Frequently asked Questions
How much is counseling?
I strive to make counseling as accessible as possible. My standard session fee is $80, and I also offer a limited sliding scale based on financial need. If cost is a concern, please don’t hesitate to email, text or call. I’m happy to have a conversation about what might work for your situation.
How long are your sessions?
Most counseling sessions last about 50–60 minutes. While I aim to stay on schedule out of respect for everyone’s time, I also want to make sure you don’t feel rushed. If we’re in the middle of an important conversation, I’ll do my best to bring the session to a thoughtful stopping point while keeping future appointments on time.
Do you accept insurance?
At this time, I am not in-network with any insurance plans and operate as a self-pay practice.
I accept cash, Venmo, and most major credit and debit cards. If you have questions about payment or my sliding scale, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m happy to discuss your options and answer any questions before your first appointment.
Upon request, I can provide a superbill that you may submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
Do you offer online counseling?
Yes. I offer both in-person and secure virtual counseling sessions for clients located in Tennessee.
In-person sessions provide a safe and comfortable space to explore, but virtual sessions are also available for those who prefer the convenience of meeting from home.
What can I expect in my first session?
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin understanding what brought you to counseling. We’ll spend time talking about what’s been going on in your life, what concerns you have, and what you hope to gain from therapy. I’ll also ask questions about your background, relationships, and personal history so I can better understand the bigger picture.
There is no pressure to share everything all at once. Counseling is a process, and we’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. My goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where we can begin identifying your goals and developing a plan together.
What are your qualifications and credentials?
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Middle Tennessee State University and my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Cumberland University. During graduate school, I completed a year-long clinical internship at Next Step Behavioral Health in Knoxville, Tennessee, where I gained experience working with individuals facing a wide range of mental health concerns.
I am an Associate Licensed Professional Counselor with Mental Health Service Provider designation (A-LPC/MHSP) in Tennessee. As an associate counselor, I have completed my graduate education and am providing counseling while completing the supervised post-graduate clinical experience required for independent licensure.
I am committed to ongoing professional development and regularly pursue additional training to provide evidence-based, compassionate care tailored to each client’s unique needs.
How do I know if counseling is the right fit for me?
It’s completely normal to have questions before starting counseling. Finding the right therapist is an important part of the process, and it’s okay if you’re not sure where to begin.
If you’d like, I offer a free 10-minute phone consultation. This gives you an opportunity to ask questions, learn a little about my approach, and decide whether you feel comfortable moving forward. There’s no pressure or obligation—it’s simply a chance for us to see if we’re a good fit before scheduling your first appointment.
My hope is that you’ll find a counselor who feels like the right match for your needs, whether that’s me or someone else.
How often will we meet?
The frequency of counseling sessions is something we will decide together based on your needs, goals, and circumstances. Some people benefit from meeting weekly, especially when they are first beginning counseling or working through more immediate concerns. Others find that every other week or monthly sessions provide the support they need.
When beginning counseling, I often recommend meeting more consistently at first so we have time to build a strong understanding of your goals, your experiences, and what support will be most helpful. From there, we can adjust the frequency of sessions as your needs change.
Counseling is a collaborative process, and we will work together to find a schedule that feels both supportive and manageable for you.
